As long as I can remember I have always loved music and singing.
When I was a very young child I would sing everything that I heard. At the age of 7 I started taking piano lessons and by the age of 8 I was already writing songs. It wasn't until I was an adult that I picked up the guitar.
When my son went to kindergarten I decided that I wanted to go back to work. There was a local mom's group called MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) that needed childcare workers. I went and applied to take care of babies once a week for a few hours. During the interview, my boss found out that I was musically inclined and asked if I would be interested in being the preschool music teacher for their group. Music was my thing, so I jumped right in with some broken, old instruments they gave me and not much else.
For the last twelve years I have been teaching preschool music and movement at several different programs around town. I created and developed my own curriculum and style. I also wrote more children's music, released my first children's cd, and I'm in the process of recording my second children's cd. In 2015 I finally opened up my own business to teach my own private classes!
In addition, I play music for birthday parties and special events. About once a month you can find me at the Thinkery (which is super fun), and every Wednesday I have a drop-in music class at Toybrary.
